Rules of SedexCraft

Preamble:
This thread is an absolute guide on rules. This thread may be subject to change at any point in time. Anything written here can be ignored or overwritten by a consented staff decision, depending on the situation.

  • “Server” means the SedexCraft server.
  • “Staff” means any moderator (Duke) or admin (King).
  • “Higher Authority” means higher ranked Staff. Higher Authority for a moderator is an admin and the owner. Higher Authority for the admin are other admins and the owner.
  • “User” means any non-Staff player.
  • “Cheating” means gaining any kind of advantage by breaking the rules.
  • “Advertising” means using any kind of link or referral to promote any Minecraft server other than Sedex servers.
  • “Server Object” means any object (building, NPC, item) owned by the Server.
  • “Player Object” means any object owned by a User or Staff player (unless explicitly known as a Server Object).
  • “Global Channel” means any kind of chat channel that can be seen by all players.
  • “Private Channel” means any kind of chat channel that can only be seen by some players (such as private message).
  • “Donator” means any User or Staff that made a donation to the server.
  • “Personal Information” means any information that can be used to identify a User or Staff in real life.
  • “PvP” means any situation in which two or more players fight and damage each other with an attempt to kill.
  • “Griefing” means any kind of behavior with goal of irritating Users through construction or destruction.
  • “Wilderness” means any unprotected area.
  • “Town Border” means Wilderness that is visible from the protected area of a Town.

(I) Staff:

(1) The power of Staff is absolute. Any Staff may bring and/or apply any decision depending on what they deem appropriate. In case that a Staff or a User deems the decision inappropriate, a report or an appeal can be made and a decision from Higher Authority shall be applied.

(2) A new Staff is chosen at any time the current Staffs deem appropriate. A Staff may be demoted by a Higher Authority at any point in time.

(3) Every Staff does his/hers job as defined in sections (4) and (5).

(4) The jobs of moderator are (but not limited to) :

  • Keeping the chat clean
  • Keeping the User relations clean
  • Keeping the community nice
  • Helping the User(s) if they need help

(5) The jobs of admin are (but not limited to) :

  • Doing administrative duties
  • Fixing bugs and glitches
  • Collaborating with moderators
  • Acting as a controlling power in the Server
  • Bringing and applying new, innovative and interesting ideas

(6) Staff shall not give any unfair advantage to Users. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Fly
  • Gamemode creative or items from creative
  • WorldEdit
  • Nickname or other donator benefits
  • Town blocks

(7) Any Staff not following section (6) will be demoted.

(8) Only exception to section (6) is usage of such privileges for Server Objects. In this case, Staff are obliged to monitor Users and their behaviour.

(II) Cheating:

(1) Any kind of behavior which includes, but is not limited to:

  • Use of modified clients (also known as hacked clients)
  • Any kind of modification that is not on this list
  • (Ab)use of glitches, bugs, and exploits (more info about it, and how to prevent it can be found here)

is considered as Cheating.

(2) Cheating is punished by a permanent ban.

(III) Insulting and obscene language:

(1) Insulting a User or a Staff is punished with a mute.

(2) It is up to the Staff to decide mute length.

(3) Length of mute increases gradually.

(4) The maximum punishment is a permanent mute.

(5) Hate speech is punished by a permanent ban.

(6) Usage of obscene language is punished according to sections (2), (3) and (4).

(IV) Language:

(1) English is the only language allowed in the Global Channel.

(2) Other languages may only be used in a Private Channel.

(3) Not following section (1) will result in a temporary mute of at least one hour.

(4) After at least five repeated offenses of section (1), a permanent mute may be applied.

(V) Griefing:

(1) Griefing is allowed in Wilderness.

(2) Town Border griefing is not allowed.

(3) Punishment for not following section (2) is a temporary ban of at least one week.

(4) After at least three repeated offenses of section (2), a permanent ban may be applied.

(5) It is up to the Town mayor to decide whether or not to punish griefing inside of a Town.

(VI) Advertising:

(1) Advertising in not allowed.

(2) Advertising is punished by a permanent ban.

(3) Advertising this Server on any other Minecraft servers is not allowed.

(4) Advertising as defined in section (3) is punished by a permanent ban.

(VII) PvP:

(1) PvP is Users’ responsibility.

(2) Staff shall not interfere in PvP.

(3) Teleporting to a User (or teleporting a User to yourself) in order to kill them is allowed.

(4) Staff shall not retrieve any items lost in PvP.

(VIII) Spamming:

(1) Spamming is punished with a mute.

(2) It is up to the Staff to decide mute length.

(3) Length of mute increases gradually.

(4) The maximum punishment is a permanent mute.

(IX) Impersonating Staff:

(1) Impersonating Staff is not allowed.

(2) Impersonating Staff is punished by a permanent ban.

(X) Unlawful entry on accounts:

(1) Entering on another User’s or Staff’s account without their permission is not allowed.

(2) Not following section (1) is punished by a permanent ban.

(XI) Account usage:

(1) User may only have one account.

(2) Any additional accounts are not allowed.

(3) Not following section (2) is punished by a permanent ban of all additional accounts and a temporary ban of the primary account on one week.

(4) Multiple offenses of section (2) will result in a permanent ban of the primary account.

(5) Users may share their primary account.

(6) Staff may not share their primary account.

(XII) Sharing Personal Information:

(1) Sharing Personal Information without explicit permission is not allowed.

(2) Sharing Personal Information as defined in section (1) is punished by a permanent ban.

(XIII) Abuse of donator benefits:

(1) If a Donator finds a way to abuse the benefits one gets by donation, the Staff retains all rights to take away those benefits.

(XIV) Abuse of bugs and glitches:

(1) Abusing any kind of bugs and glitches is not allowed.

(2) Abusing bugs and glitches as defined in section (2) is punished by a permanent ban.

(XV) Appealing:

(1) Any punishment (except those defined in section 3) and/or Staff decision may be appealed on the forums.

(2) Staff retains the right to accept or deny any appeal.

(3) The following punishments can not be appealed:

  • Hate speech
  • Impersonating Staff
  • Sharing Personal Information

  • Hate speech (previously: racism, nazism, ethnic slurs…) is not punished by a permanent ban.

  • Bug and glitch abuse it punished according to chapter XIV.
  • Attempting to PvP anywhere outside of designated PvP zones is not allowed and is treated as bug and glitch abuse (VII; 4, 5)
  • Attempting to use bugs and glitches to PvP outside of PvP arenas is punished by a permanent ban (VII; 5)
